Downtown Kids is a children’s ministry that offers a service built for kids that includes a meal, worship, games, lessons, and modules!
Modules are small group oriented ‘classes’ that a student takes for six weeks for the last half of the Wednesday night program where we use hands on skills to learn about life skills (teamwork, respect, trust, etc.)! Different modules that students can take include: art, theatre, science, cooking, LEGO, sports, camping, farming, and more! (Modules change from quarter to quarter)
We currently meet during the school year on Wednesday nights at Mattoon First United Methodist Church at 5:30 p.m. every week unless otherwise stated. We also have a Kids Choir program at 4:45 till kids church starts! Our last evening before summer break will be May 16th.
If you would like your child to join, just come on Wednesday nights and register when you get here! To print the registration form, click here. If there are any questions you would like answered before coming please feel free to call Jordan Thomas at the church!
If you would like to volunteer for Downtown Kids then please contact Jordan Thomas on the staff page!
Downtown Kids’ children’s Wednesday night service is back to normal after their Christmas break. January 10 was the first week of the 7 week session and the kids had a good time restarting the modules. Our cooking module made biscuits!!
